Job Description

We have an opening for an Electrical Engineer to help with development, integration, testing, and fielding of electrical and optical diagnostic systems for a wide range of research programs aiding in the national security of the country. You will be technically responsible for carrying out a range of duties including design of analog and digital electrical circuit, simulation, integrating components and/or subsystems and programming of these subsystems. This position is in the National Security Engineering Division (NSED) within the Engineering Directorate.

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

In this role you will

  • Develop conceptual designs of moderately complex to complex electrical systems, test prototypes, and associated diagnostics.
  • Develop, design, integrate and test cross-timing systems for various moderately complex to complex experiments.
  • Perform circuit simulations to verify system performance and functionality.
  • Contribute to the detailed design process, oversee fabrication, and unit assembly of electrical systems.
  • Generate and review electrical system documentation (schematics, cable diagrams, wiring diagrams, timing diagrams, simulation/analysis results, safety plans, test plans and results).
  • Participate in the production of system specifications, design documentation, simulated system performance, test plans, tested hardware and software, and participate in design reviews.
  • Prepare supporting safety and engineering documentation and participate in engineering design reviews.
  • Participate in engineering testing operations, analyze results, and write reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the SES.3 level

  • Set specific technical strategy and may monitor or direct activities as task lead.
