Flexible & Hybrid Work Options
The Lab is committed to supporting a hybrid work environment that meets mission, project and team needs while being flexible for your personal life and preferences. Eligible employees may choose to work on-site full time or split their time between work and an off-site location.
Alternate Work Schedules (AWS) allow Laboratory employees to compress their workweeks by working more hours over fewer days. A 4/10 schedule earns you an extra day off each week and the 9/80 option slightly extends your workday but gets you a day off every other week.
When you work is an important part of workplace flexibility. LLNL's flexible schedules enable you to start earlier in the day and leave early to pick up the kids from school or to vary the start and stop times of your workdays to help balance work and personal needs.

Pay on a pretax, salary-reduction basis for eligible dependent care or healthcare expenses not covered by your medical, dental or vision plans.

LLNL provides an automatic employer contribution starting at 3.5% and that increases with your years of service. On top of that, we offer we offer a full employer matching contribution up to 6% for all eligible employees.
Just as important, there's no waiting period for employer matching or vesting, so you're able to start saving for retirement as soon as your job starts.

Taking care of kids and taking care of business can be a tough balancing act. At LLNL, we support new parents with paid parental leave and a lactation program for nursing parents returning to the Lab.

Discover onsite and offsite options for health and wellness
We know you do your best work when body and mind are both in good shape. Our comprehensive wellness programs are designed to support employees' mental and physical health.
Along with running vaccination clinics for the flu and COVID-19, our onsite Health Services Department helps you stay healthy with ergonomic evaluations, biometric screenings and vision and hearing checks. Plus, we provide free short-term counseling services that don't drain your sick leave or vacation time.
It's easy to stay active wherever you are with virtual fitness classes like BodyPump and Yoga. Our onsite gym has a full range of exercise equipment including cardio machines and fixed and free weights. Plus, we have basketball and volleyball courts, an archery range, table tennis and more for those times when you need to get moving.
