Register now for the 24th annual San Joaquin Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) Conference scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1, at the University of the Pacific in Stockton.

This popular daylong event introduces young women in grades 6-12 to a variety of challenging careers through hands-on workshops to increase interest in and foster awareness of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers.This year’s theme is, "She believed she could, so she did."

Attendees participate in three hands-on workshops at the conference, providing opportunities to meet and interact with positive role models who are actively engaged in STEM-related careers. The conference is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with check-in starting at 8:15 a.m. The $15 registration fee includes a T-shirt, lunch, SJEYH giveaways and chances to win raffle prizes. Space is limited to the first 550 registrants.

Volunteers/chaperones are still needed. For more information about the conference, to volunteer and to register online, go to the web. Volunteers/chaperones will receive breakfast, lunch and a T-shirt.

The San Joaquin EYH conference is co-sponsored by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories/California and the University of the Pacific School of Engineering and Computer Science.
