The March 2012 issue of Science & Technology Review is now online. This issue's feature article, "Extending the Life of an Aging Weapon," reports on how stockpile stewards have begun work on a multiyear effort to extend the service life of the aging W78 warhead. A second feature highlights material microstructures that go three-dimensional with improved additive manufacturing techniques developed at Livermore. Another article describes how electrogenic bacteria and microbial fuel cell technologies can produce clean, renewable energy and purify water. A final article reports on a new nanowire sensor that operates without batteries.
