The January/February 2012 issue of Science & Technology Review is now online. The cover story, "At the Frontiers of Fundamental Science Research," describes NIF experiments that are helping to forge a new era of scientific discovery. This issue also reports on the Laboratory's contributions to the nation's support to Japan following the March 2011 earthquake and nuclear accident. Highlights in January/February focus on MIDAS -- a Web-based repository for material properties, experimental data and computer models -- and on a computer architecture developed with persistent memory to ease data-intensive computations.
