Campaign brings it on HOME

The 2008 HOME (Helping Others More Effectively) Campaign comes to a close today, Dec. 5. If you haven’t participated yet, go to the Web by 5 p.m. today and make your online donation to the agencies of your choice to help those in need in the community.

As of 3 p.m. Dec. 4, HOME Campaign donations totaled $1.454,435.

"We are very pleased with the response so far," HOME Campaign Chair David Boercker said, reminding those who haven’t yet contributed to do so by 5 p.m.  "There’s still time to contribute to the agencies that assist our neighbors in need."

This year, the Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC Board of Governors is once again maximizing the impact of donations by matching employee contributions up to $1 million.

Cal Wood, a physicist in B Division with about 50 years service to the Lab, recently contributed to several agencies through HOME.

He has seen the campaign grow over the years and witnessed its impact on the community. His reason for giving is simple:  "Over my lifetime, people have shown their generosity to me, so I want to do the same.  I want to ‘pay it forward,’" Wood said.

The 2008 campaign is being managed by the Science and Technology Principal Directorate.
