Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's "Science on Saturday” lecture series will present “In the Mood: Deciphering Complex Brain Signals” on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's (LLNL) popular "Science on Saturday” lecture series returns to Tracy, highlighting the brain and reprising two presentations that were featured earlier this year in Livermore.

The free one-hour presentations will be held on Sept. 21 and Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. at The Grand Theatre, located at 715 N. Central Ave. in Tracy. Each informative and entertaining lecture highlights cutting-edge science presented by leading Lab researchers who are joined by master high school science teachers. No pre-registration is required. Admittance is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The two-part series kicks off Saturday, Sept. 21, with “Giving Your Brain a Voice: Engineering Sensors That Listen to Brain Cells,” by LLNL scientist Allison Yorita and teacher Erin McKay of Tracy High School. On Saturday, Oct. 5, LLNL scientist Alan Kaplan and McKay will present, “In the Mood: Deciphering Complex Brain Signals.”

The lectures are sponsored by LLNL's University Relations and Science Education Program and targeted to middle and high school students. For more information, visit the Science on Saturday website or contact albala1 [at] llnl.gov (Joanna Albala) at (925) 422-6803.
