'Science On Saturday' lecture to explore 3D printing — from imagination to realization

Who:  Lawrence Livermore scientists Eric Duoss, Chris Spadaccini, Julie Jackson, William Smith and Melody Golobic, along with Tracy High School science teacher Dean Reese, will present "3D Printing: From Imagination to Realization," the third lecture in the 2017 Science on Saturday series. The series theme is "Ingenious Inventions."

What: This informative and entertaining lecture will cover how  revolutionary changes to materials and structures, now possible with 3D printing, are bringing to reality concepts that were previously only imagined. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) scientists will discuss 3D printing technologies and how they work, as well as how to design for these processes, create the feedstock materials and test the performance of the products. At LLNL, the scientists are working with existing 3D-printing technologies and materials, as well as inventing their own and pushing the boundaries of size scale, material composition and geometric complexity.
