Media advisory: 'Science on Saturday' in Tracy explores fusion and creating a sun on earth
Who: Lawrence Livermore scientist Tammy Ma and teacher Tom Shefler of Granada High School will present "Harnessing Fusion: Creating a Sun on Earth." This popular Science on Saturday presentation was featured earlier this year in Livermore.
What: The 2016 Science on Saturday series highlights women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). This informative and entertaining lecture will focus on the engineering aspect of STEM and will describe how scientists and engineers at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s National Ignition Facility, the world’s largest and most powerful laser, are working hard to demonstrate sustainable fusion burn, the same reaction that occurs in the sun.
When: Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 10 a.m.
Where: The Grand Theatre, 715 N. Central Ave., Tracy, California.
Note: Science on Saturday lectures are sponsored by LLNL's Science Education Program and specifically target middle and high school students. The lectures are free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
