Media advisory: 'Science on Saturday' lecture explores the world through statistics
Who: Lawrence Livermore scientist Ana Kupresanin and teacher Richard Newton of Tracy High School will present "From Basketball and Medicine to Climate: Understanding the World Through Statistics," the fourth and final lecture in the 2016 Science on Saturday series. The series theme is "Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)."
What: This informative lecture will focus on the mathematics aspect of STEM and will describe how Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory applies statistics in climate science research by using computer models based on physical laws to simulate the dynamics of the Earth’s atmosphere, land and oceans.
When: Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016
Session I: 9:30 a.m.
Session II: 11:15 a.m. (same content as session I)
Where: Bankhead Theater, 2400 First St., Livermore.
Note: The lectures and demonstrations are sponsored by LLNL's Science Education Program, are open to the public and are specifically targeted to middle and high school students.
