Pay Range

$87,450 - $108,564 Annually at the A01.2 level

$104,910 -$130,236 Annually at the A01.3 level

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

Job Description

We have an opening for an Administrator for the Office of Laboratory Infrastructure (OLI) Organization. You will work independently to plan, execute, and/or provide oversight to the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Cooling and Heating Asset Management Program (CHAMP). CHAMP is a key strategy to increase NNSA’s purchasing power to improve the condition of critical infrastructure systems that are common across the DOE/NNSA Complex. As the lead Management & Operations (M&O) Contractor responsible for CHAMP, LLNL is responsible for ensuring the overall successful implementation of CHAMP and providing the technical direction, oversight, and subcontracting on behalf of the DOE/NNSA complex. In addition, you will provide high-level executive level support to Deputy Program Directors within the OLI Organization. You will also assist and co-manage high-level visits and activities for the OLI Organization.

You will

  • Provide a high level of executive support to the LLNL CHAMP program manager, and the Infrastructure management team as needed.
  • Manage visits that include senior level managers from NNSA, M&O, and corporate associations. Includes extensive interaction with VIP visitors, LLNL Protocol Office, and Principal Associate Directorate (PAD) Offices at LLNL.
  • Lead the coordination and execution of classified program reviews, meetings, workshops, and conferences of a technical nature.
  • Provide a high level of executive support to the Deputy Directors in the OLI organization, including representing them with correspondence, coordinating, communicating, and disseminating information.
  • Lead planning, development, and execution of a variety of workforce, operational and organizational requirements, and activities for CHAMP and Infrastructure Programs.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to administrative personnel in all classifications. Conduct meetings to ensure timely communication of information and sharing of knowledge across Infrastructure’s administrative staff.
  • Review a variety of documentation for adherence to policy and ensure consistency.
  • Track and take action on program deliverables and milestones.
  • Develop and implement plans to promote culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional duties at the A01.3 level

  • Lead, analyze, advise, implement, and oversee various business, operational, and organizational activities and projects.
  • Participate in internal and/or external audits and assessments. Develop and implement solutions on identified action items to complete audit or assessment evaluations.
  • May have supervisory responsibilities for a group of exempt and non-exempt staff.
  • May have budget adherence and signature responsibility.


  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Experience representing management to diverse internal and external contacts, communicating manager’s direction.
  • Experience participating in and leading a variety of cross-organizational and/or integrated projects, both internal and external to the Laboratory.
  • Experience independently coordinating and prioritizing high volume requests and multi-faceted internal processes under short, changing, and often conflicting deadlines with numerous and frequent interruptions.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to interact tactfully and effectively with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the Laboratory, and to explain, negotiate, persuade, and lead staff and management through conflict resolution in order to obtain consent and action on complex matters, achieving desirable outcomes.
  • Effective analytical, research, and problem-solving skills to independently and successfully anticipate, identify, and resolve unique problems.
  • Advanced knowledge of personal computers and associated software including expert use of MS Office applications and experience developing reports for use in management decision making.
  • Demonstrated leadership and commitment to diversity and fostering an inclusive and equitable organization.
  • Experience in a scientific technical, or research program and/or working in a classified environment

Addition Qualifications (at the A01.3 level)

  • Associates degree in a related field or equivalent combination of significant experience and education in a business, operational, and/or organizational area.
  • Experience leading and supervising business, operational and/or organizational activities; participating in a variety of organizational projects and researching, interpreting, implementing, and applying a wide variety of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Experience overseeing internal and external audits, assessments, action items, or high-level inquiries.

Qualifications we Desire

  • Broad, institutional knowledge of the Laboratory and its programs and external organizations (i.e. Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
