Job Description

We have an opening for a Supervisor/Senior Supervisor for the Acquisition Management Group (AQMG). You will have a key role in developing successful careers, fostering a positive and inclusive working environment with an outstanding and diverse staff supporting essential Laboratory missions with Engineering Directorate as well as LLNL-wide programs and projects. This position is in the Manufacturing Section of the Materials Engineering Division (MED).

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

In this role you will

  • Provide direct technical leadership and administrative supervision of the work center team including personnel actions, administration of policies and procedures for work unit.
  • Be responsible for personnel related functions including interviewing, selecting, training, performance management and ranking, salary management/recommendation, promotion/reclassification, and corrective actions.
  • Perform/assist staff preparing technical procurement packages including technical specifications, statements of work, quality assurance and inspection requirements.
  • Monitor procurement deliverables and provide technical interface between LLNL and supplier, e.g., on time deliverables, milestone reviews, and technical resolutions during processing.
  • Provide advanced coordinator support for resolution of vendor supply and fabrication problems, obtain authorization for design changes, substitutions, job orders, and other related actions to resolve advanced problems and ensure meeting scheduled deadlines.
  • Solve complex technical, administrative, and procurement support to process, coordinate and/or expedite orders, releases, and requisitions for equipment, repairs, materials, and hardware.
  • Obtain and maintain procurement certification as a LLNL Technical Release Representative with financial authority and will manage the AQMG’s budget.
  • Establish or modify guidelines, techniques, and procedures for strategic work center planning including QA, workflow processes, tools and equipment acquisition/repair/maintenance, workforce, and budgetary management.
  • Interface closely with Lab-wide program/project leads, engineers, facility managers, technical contacts, and others.
  • Present/explain technical knowledge, and provide advice to management, regulators, reviewers, and stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the 390.2 level

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Leadership experience directing/supervising and assigning tasks to a team or group with varying technical support levels.
  • Advanced skills and abilities in technical coordination of complex projects including project planning, purchasing, budgeting, and workforce planning.
  • Experience with acquisition processes, e.g., programmatic approval(s), obtaining bids, award, receive, property management, reconciliation, and close-outs.
  • Ability to possess and understand relevant technologies to procure and coordinate electronic and mechanical systems to solve technical issues.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and the ability to identify and specify component standards.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to supervise a team and present/explain technical knowledge in specific technical areas.
  • Advanced administrative skills including the use of computers and software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and similar applications.

Security Clearance
