Paul Jarvis

Paul Edward Jarvis of Redwood City died Jan. 2. He was 76.

Jarvis was born in Deadwood, South Dakota on Sept. 17, 1941 to Edward and Hilma Jarvis of Lead, South Dakota. He was raised in Eugene, Oregon with his late sister, Patricia (1949-1980).

Jarvis belonged to the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity while earning his degree in electrical engineering from Oregon State University. He received his master's degree from New York University. He attained the rank of captain in the U.S. Army while serving in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967. Jarvis married Anita Louise Allison on Dec. 23, 1971. They lived in El Cerrito, El Sobrante, and finally settled in Redwood City in 1978.

Jarvis worked at many firms over his career, notably Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Westinghouse, GTE Lenkurt, Litton Industries, (AT&T), 3M and FMC. He was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in San Carlos and served as scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 153 in San Carlos.

He spent his last years working at the Redwood City Orchard Supply Hardware electrical department.

After his wife, Anita, passed in October. 2017, he is survived by his sons, Edward Jarvis (Lara) (Christensen), and son Paul; and Richard Jarvis (Anne) (Mathers), and son, Jack.

A celebration of life was recently held.
