Jimmie Earl Younger, Sr.

Jimmie Earl Younger, Sr., died April 25. He was 69.

The youngest of five children, Younger was born on Aug. 4, 1945 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. He was a proud Vietnam War Veteran who honorably served three tours on the USS Eldorado. While stationed at the Naval Station in San Diego, he met the love of his life, Mary Flores, whom he married in 1966 in Old Town San Diego. They eventually relocated to Livermore for Younger to start his career at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He worked at the Lab for 37 years, until his retirement in 2004.

While Younger was very proud of his career at the Lab and of his Naval service, he was most proud of his family. He was a dedicated family man who loved his “little wife” and bragged about her any opportunity he had. His entire life was spent serving his family and his Lord and Savior. His passing is a huge loss to all who knew and loved him.

He was the proud father of two sons, Jimmie, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado and John Younger of Manteca, California and proud grandfather of Abriana and Zachary Younger of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Younger was preceded in death by his mother Ruby Younger and his siblings, Allen Younger, Gwen Bruce and Gloria Pullen, all of Paradise, California.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Younger; sons Jimmie, Jr. and John Younger; daughter-in-law Kathy Younger; grandchildren Abriana and Zachary Younger and brother James Younger, as well as, a large extended family and several lifelong friends.

Services were recently held at Freedom Christian Center in Manteca.  An Honorable Veteran burial followed at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella Village.  Donations in Younger’s memory may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 2529 W March Lane, Ste. 101, Stockton, California 95207.
