Gordon D. Anderson

Gordon D. Anderson of Livermore died Dec. 17. He was 84 years old.

Anderson earned a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Iowa State University in 1954, and his masters and doctorate in physics in 1964 from Washington State University. He joined Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 1974 as a physicist in the Earth Sciences Department, K Division, after working at the Stanford Research Institute in Menlo Park for a number of years. He retired from the Laboratory in 1990. 

Anderson was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Trudy Anderson of Livermore; children Bruce W. Anderson of San Jose, Bonnie L. Bucalo of Las Vegas, Nevada, Paul F. Anderson of Glen Ellyn, Illinois and Peter R. Anderson of Caldwell, Idaho. He also is survived by six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. 

A private ceremony was recently held at Memory Gardens in Livermore. A more public celebration of his life may be planned for a later date. 

The family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts, a donation in Anderson's name be made to a charity of choice.
