Charles (Charlie) Anderson, a former Lab physicist, died June 16. He was 79.

Anderson was born in Smithers, West Virginia, and later moved to Cleveland, where he graduated from Case Institute of Technology. After graduation in 1962, he accepted a position at the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory and moved to Livermore. He joined L Division, where he fielded nuclear weapons tests. After the end of testing he joined A Division, where he worked as part of the design team. During his 45 years at LLNL, he served as project physicist for 16 tests and diagnostic physicist for many more. He also was a group leader, worked on the Mirror Fusion Test Facility and completed two assignments at the Department of Energy.

He was the loving husband of his wife Dee for 61 years. He was preceded in death by his great-grandson Charlie. He is survived by his wife, his sons David and Mark, daughters-in-law Trina and Lisa; grandchildren Sherry, Danielle and Bryan; and great-grandchildren Alex, Julie and Lilly. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the COPD Foundation.

A celebration of life will be held in mid-July.

A remembrance gathering is planned for Sunday July 28, 2019 starting at 11:00 am.
