Bruce L. Garner

Bruce L. Garner died April 13. He was 94.

Garner was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 15, 1922, to Julia and Smith Garner. In 1948 he married Patricia Thielmann. They remained married for 47 years, until she passed away in 1995. He studied at UCLA, earning a Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry in 1952. During his career, he worked at Geigy Chemical Corporation and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He served in the Naval Reserve in World War II as a lieutenant in the Mediterranean Sea.

An avid photographer for 80 years, his additional interests included raising a family, world travel, classical music, mountains, nature and hiking, model railroads and genealogy.

Garner is predeceased by his wife, Patricia. He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Garner; two sons, Charles Garner and Jay Garner; daughter-in-law, Mary Garner and loving partner, Carol Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, or a charity of your choice . A private celebration of life will be held with family and close friends.
