William Evans Bahr

William Evans Bahr, of Stockton, died Wednesday, July 10. He was 87.

Bahr was born on July 30, 1925, in Ontario, Canada, to Otto and Margaret Bahr. He served in the Navy during WWII and also served in the Army in the Korean War. He was an Honor Guard that escorted the WWII dead back to their families for two years. He retired from the Lawrence Livermore Lab after 20 years.

He will be remembered for his humor, love of quips, quotes and good clean jokes; for his commitment to the Lord, love of family and his gentle kind spirit. He was proud of his Scottish and Irish decent. He was known for his meticulous and dapper dress, and his gentlemanly demeanor. He was held in high respect by his coworkers, friends and family. The patriarch of his family, he was loved and adored by everyone.

Bahr was blessed to be married to his late wife, Delores Moon, for 36 years. He leaves behind their five children, Larry Bahr, Laura Forbes, Patti Hunt, Scott Bahr and his wife, Debra, Diane Kenyon and her husband, Bill and seven grandchildren: Shawn, Rachel, Brandon, Billy, Heather, Nathan and Megan and two great grandchildren, Caleb and Julian. He is survived by his only sister Barbara Daringer and her husband, Robert and many, many nieces and nephews.

Bahr is survived by his loving wife, Ruby, of 25 years and his three stepchildren, Delbert Stahr Jr., Darlene Philippe and her husband, Moe and Catherine Barnhouse and husband, Patrick. He also is survived by five step-grandchildren: David, James, Lacey, Taylor and Shelby and a great grandson, Nicholas.
