William E. Humphrey

William (Bill) E. Humphrey of Turlock died Nov. 27. He was 93.

Humphrey was born in July 1920 in Monrovia, Calif. to Norman and Fannie Humphrey and was raised in the Phoenix area. After graduating high school, Humphrey joined the Army Air Corps. and served as a pilot during WWII, serving in the Pacific/Tinian and the Philippines. After returning home, he attended UC Berkeley, graduating in 1949 with a bachelor's degree.

Humphrey worked for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a budget control officer for 30 years, retiring in 1980. Humphrey had an unwavering faith followed by his love and devotion to his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Mary, children Gia Swango, Dee (Mike) Taylor, Denise Soria, Karen (Rick) Nordell, Deanna Hooker, Philip Dodson; 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Services are by Allen Mortuary. A memorial service will be held at Monte Vista Chapel on Friday, Dec. 27 at 10:30 a.m. with burial also on Friday at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
