William Dean Daily Jr.

William "Bill" Dean Daily Jr. died June 2. He was 70.

Daily was born in Dallas Texas on Oct. 5, 1943. He lived in most states and many countries, including Panama and the Dominican Republic. He served as a religious missionary in the southern states and was a devoted and faithful Christian and theologian. He received a doctorate in physics at Brigham Young University and worked at Moffett Field for eight years on the Apollo program and at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for 29 years.

Daily married Kathy Bosworth while they were still students. Together they had six children and 17 grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman who exceled at mountaineering, canoeing, rock climbing, bicycling and fishing. He was a cub and scout master for many years. He was very involved with his family and taught his children to work hard and play hard. To him, the best vacations were the ones that left you tired, sore and full of memories.

Daily was a respected and prolifically published and patented scientist and a generous, kind and wise counselor. After his retirement, he volunteered regularly at a food bank, served as a worker in the Oakland Temple, tutored math, fished, wrote a book and drove his BMW Roadster in the hills, even to his last days. He was an exceptional husband, father and friend.

Daily is survived by his loving wife and children. Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Friday, June 6, at 9:30 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 950 Mocho Street in Livermore.
