William Bagot

William Coombs Bagot died Dec. 3 in Walnut Creek. He was 82.

Born Oct. 16, 1929 in San Francisco, he joined the Naval ROTC at University of California, Berkeley. After completing his bachelor’s degree in chemistry, he joined the Navy as a Lt. JG and served in the Korean War.

He married Maryanne Koerner, and returned to California where he completed his MBA in 1957.

Bagot worked 32 years at Lawrence Berkeley and at LLNL as the Director of Information Technology.

He was devoted to Cal football, cats, and his trombone, and was a continuous band member.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Carol Bagot; his children: Lisa of San Diego, Tom of New York, Steve of Danville and Rob of Sausalito; daughters-in-law Karen and Laura; eight grandchildren; and his brother, John Bagot.

A memorial service and celebration of Bagot’s life will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. at Wilson & Kratzer, Chapel of San Ramon Valley, 825 Hartz Way, Danville, Calif. In lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations to Hospice of the East Bay.
