Victor Garner

Victor Garner, a longtime Livermore resident, died Dec. 10 in Pleasanton, after a long battle with heart disease. He was 81.

A native of Little Rock, Ark., Garner was born March 1, 1929. During his childhood, in addition to Arkansas, he lived in Texas, and moved to California after high school, where he enlisted in the Marines.

After the Marines, Garner worked as an airplane mechanic at the Alameda Naval Air Station. He then moved to Livermore where he worked at the Lab for 12 years as a mechanical technician. He left LLNL to be an insurance agent for Mutual Service Insurance, where he retired after more than 25 years.

Garner was an avid model airplane enthusiast all his life. He won many awards and trophies and was well known in both line and remote control flying.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Genevieve; daughters, Linda Millspaugh of Livermore and Karen Garner of Pleasanton; three grandchildren, Tanya, Chad and Adam; and five great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held for the family. Donations may be made in Garner’s name to the American Heart Society.
