Theodore Staten "Ted" Bohn

Theodore Staten "Ted" Bohn died Friday, Feb. 21, at his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, with loved ones by his side after a six-year battle with colon cancer. He was 76.

Bohn was born Sept. 27, 1937, to Theodore and Henrietta Staten Bohn in Beaver, Utah. His father was a local attorney, and they lived across from the courthouse. When Bohn was five years old, his family moved to Ogden, Utah, where his father was a northern Utah judge.

Bohn was always curious about scientific things. He and his friends had fun building various rockets and blasting them off to see where they would land.

When Bohn was old enough, he decided to go on an LDS mission. He was called by David O. McKay to the Atlanta Georgia Southern States Mission, where he had much success. Upon his return home to Utah, he went to Brigham Young University, where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees in physics.

In 1964, he met his future wife Sherrill "Sherry" Christopherson of The Dalles, Ore., while attending BYU. They married Sept. 9, 1964, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

He moved to Livermore after his first son was born. Bohn worked as a nuclear physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He later moved to Corvallis, Ore. to work on his doctorate at Oregon State University. Once his doctorate was completed, the family moved back to Livermore. After working in Livermore researching nuclear weapons for six years, Bohn had a job opportunity in Orlando, Fla., at Martin Marietta working on the Sprint Missile. He had always wanted to go back to where he had served his mission, so the family decided to move there. That job was completed in December of 1974.

They decided to move west again and ended up at the Idaho National Energy Laboratory near Idaho Falls, Idaho.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry; his children, Todd (Jerrie Tueller), Trina Forbush (Todd), Jeff (Jen Hurd), Brad (Camille Christensen), Spencer (Ilah Gibb) and Sharisse Rowan (Ryan); his grandchildren, Theodore IV (Tory) Bohn, Tiphanie Bohn, Ashlie Bohn, Brandie Bohn, Chelsie Bohn, Kristin Germer, Jared Seward, Brandon Bird, Britni (Cody) Killeen, Benjamin Bird, Brianna Bird, Bridger Bird, Belinda Bird, Elise Forbush, Krista (William) Alexander, Bradley (Sara) Forbush, Mandy Forbush, Courtney Forbush, Josh Forbush, Wesley Bohn, Garrett Bohn, Drew Bohn, Brynne Bohn, Lindsey Bohn, Brooke Bohn, Dallin Bohn, Nathan Bohn, Allison Bohn, Aubrey Bohn, Lauren Bohn, Eric Bohn, Alexis Ramirez, Brianna Ramirez, Carolyn Ramirez, Brett Bohn, Joseph Bohn, Cambri Rowan, Brooklind Rowan, Caden Rowan and Brielle Rowan; his brother, David Earl Bohn of Orem, Utah; and his sister, Rae Pyper Clawson of Scottsdale, Ariz.
