Steven Savage

Steven Thomas Savage, a former lab employee and resident of Castro Valley and Tracy, died March 7. He was 51.

Born April 20, 1959, in Oakland, Calif., Savage grew up in Castro Valley where he also raised his family. He worked at the Lab for most of his career in Supply and Distribution.

Savage enjoyed making people laugh and cared deeply about his family and friends. He was an avid Oakland A’s and Raiders fan, sports card collector and gardener. He enjoyed coaching sports teams for his daughters over the years and was the type of coach that parents and young people appreciated and respected.

Savage was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Aitken; his father, Jerry T. Savage; and daughter, Kelly Savage.

He is survived by his daughters, Jenna and Mary Sue Savage; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Richard Newton; Debbie and Keith Brownfield and Theresa Savage and David Murphy; and seven nieces and nephews.
