Scott Franklin Sailors

Scott Franklin Sailors, a senior electronics technician in NIF, died Oct. 18 in Tracy. He was 41.

The youngest of four boys, Sailors was born Feb. 2, 1971, in Dumas, Texas to the late Dewey and Norma Sailors.

The family moved to American Falls, Idaho when he was 3 years old. He would make American Falls his home for the next 15 years. Shortly after graduating, Sailors joined the U.S. Army and married his high school sweetheart, Monica. They were married 19 years and had two daughters.

He served seven years in the military, spending time in Germany and several duty stations throughout the United States. He was taught and trained in many things during his service but none of which he enjoyed more than coordinating the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

After his military career, Sailors and his family settled in Boise, Idaho for a number of years, where he worked for Micron as an electrical technician. In 2001, he accepted a job at LLNL as an electronics technician and moved his family to Tracy, Calif. where they settled and called home until his final days.

He enjoyed many things in life: football, hunting, snowmobiling and all water sports.

Sailors  is survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah Sailors both of Tracy; brothers, Mike Sailors and wife, Barbara of Kennewick, Wash.; Dave Sailors of Billings, Mont.; and Steve Sailors and wife, Janneece of Twin Falls, Idaho. He also is survived by his fiancé Kristee Palmquist and his former wife Monica Sailors both of Tracy, and many extended family members.

A celebration of life was held Oct. 22 in Tracy. Graveside services with full military honors will be held Thursday, Oct. 25, at Falls View Cemetery, American Falls, Idaho.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to an educational fund that has been set up for his daughters.
