Russell Lee McGlenn

Russell L. McGlenn, a former Tracy resident and Lab retiree died Sept. 26 in Modesto. He was 84.

Born Nov. 3, 1927, in Sylvania, Ohio, McGlenn served in the U.S. Navy, meeting his wife while stationed in Shanghai, China.

He moved to Tracy in 1958 and worked 26 years as a carpenter at the Lab’s Site 300, outside of Tracy.

After retiring, he worked for Franklin Cole on the Eaton Avenue medical building in Tracy and helped friends as a handyman. He also was a licensed barber. He and his wife moved to Florida in 1988 and then to Modesto 12 years later.

McGlenn is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred “Milly” McGlenn of Modesto; four daughters, Sandy Bradford of Lathrop, Linda McGlenn of Modesto, Carol Bivens, and her husband, Jerry, of Manteca; and Diane Pemberton McGlenn of Tracy; five grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

He also is survived by a sister, Merrie Schmidt of Clearwater, Fla., and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Genevieve Allen McGlenn; and a son-in-law, Glen Nemeth.

In accordance with his wishes, no service is planned.
