Roxanne Barnett Springer

Roxanne Barnett Springer died Oct. 26. She was 68.  

Springer was born on May 9, 1955, in Oakland, California. Growing up in San Lorenzo, the family moved to Castro Valley and eventually Livermore. She graduated from Livermore High School in 1973. Starting what would be a life-long career in 1977, she dedicated 32 years with the payroll and human resource departments at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). Starting as a payroll clerk, she worked through many areas in the department from benefits, insurance, workman’s comp and subsequently supervised a small team in disbursement operations implementing, testing, and leading institutionalized training classes for the newly developed Institutional Time Entry System “LITE”. Moving into Human Resources she took a newly evolved position as system administrator for LLNL Administrative Personnel Information System (LAPIS) where she created training classes for new employees and continued to work side by side with system programmers for testing. She retired in 2009.

She is survived by her husband Ray Gravel, children Sara, Katie and Chad, step daughters Theresa and Amy, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister Cindy Dee and brother Bill Barnett. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Millie "Billie" (Dee) Barnett, brother Bob Barnett and grandson Aaron Jennings.

A celebration of life will be held on Dec. 3 from 1 - 4 p.m., at Robert Livermore Community Center, Cresta Blanca Room, 4444 East Ave., Livermore. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Salvation Army in honor of her lifelong spirit of giving and her family's generations of charitable work and service for The Salvation Army. https://give-do.salvationarmy.org/give/515300
