Robin Jane Goldstone

Robin Jane Goldstone died Feb. 22. She was 60. 

Goldstone was born April 14,1963, as the eldest child of parents Saul and Rhoda Goldstone. She attended California State University, Chico (CSUC) and graduated with a master of science degree in computer science in 1987. She began working at CSUC as a systems software developer in 1986, where she worked for nine years providing operating systems support at the production data center. She came to work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in 1995 as a computer scientist in Livermore computing. She worked as a system engineer at the high performance computing (HPC) center on many of the top supercomputers over the years. She worked at the Department of Energy headquarters for a time where she was instrumental with our sponsor in creating the Tri-Lab Operating System Software effort. She also led a networks and convergence effort for the CIO for 5 years.  In the final decade of her career, she was a distinguished HPC expert and a key member of the advanced technology office, where she was involved in developing LLNL's HPC strategy. Focus areas included commodity HPC clusters, data intensive computing, next-generation I/O and storage, and exascale systems.

Goldstone is survived by her wife, Mary Claudino; her son, Charlie Claudino; her daughter, Kinsey Claudino; her sister, Lisa Raineri; her brother-in-law, Joe Raineri; and her nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Saul and Rhoda Goldstone.

No service is planned at this time although the family is considering a celebration of life at a later date, as well as founding a scholarship in Robin’s honor.
