Robert Rayzor

Retiree Robert William Rayzor died Tuesday, Feb. 26 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 77.

Born May 8, 1935 "in paradise" as he liked to say, Rayzor grew up on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, and moved to "the States" at the age of 13.

Rayzor began his career at the Lab at age 23. He moved with his family to Discovery Bay in 1987, and finished his career at LLNL at the age of 65, when he retired as a senior construction manager in 2000.

Rayzor had a passion for all things fast. He raced cars, motorcycles, boats and logged over 1,000 hours of piloting his beloved Bonanza airplane through the '70s. In addition, he enjoyed golf and working on anything that had an engine in it.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay; his two sons, Dale and Darin; daughter, Debbie; sisters, Pat and Lou; brother, Ted; two grandchildren and numerous loved ones and friends.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the DBYC in Discovery Bay on Saturday, March 23, at noon. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Parkinson's Foundation or charity of your choice.
