Robert G. Meisenheimer

Robert G. Meisenheimer, a Lab retiree, died March 17. He was 92.

Born May 6, 1920 in Parlier, Calif., he was raised in Fresno by his parents Elsie and Baze with his two younger brothers Dick and Jack. He later attended Fresno State University and University of California-Berkeley, achieving his Ph.D. in theoretical physics.

He and his wife moved to Northern California where they had two children.

Meisenheimer worked for Shell Oil and later at LLNL.

He and his family were members of the Fresno Friends Quaker Church and later were one of the founders of Walnut Creek Friends Church, which he and his wife attended and were deeply dedicated to.

Meisenheimer enjoyed mountain climbing and golfing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ella; daughter, Carol Painter of Antioch; granddaughter, Michelle Jones of Pleasant Hill; grandson, Thom Painter of Concord; grandson, Lane Meisenheimer of Antioch; great-grandsons, James, Thomas, Ryan and Thomas Aquinas; and sister-in-laws, Jean McPherson of Fresno and Jane Meisenheimer of Fresno.

Friends and family are invited to a viewing Friday, March 22, from 5-8 p.m. and funeral Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m. at Oakmont Memorial Park and Mortuary, 2099 Reliez Valley Road Lafayette. Burial will follow at Oakmont Memorial Park.
