Robert Frisbie

Robert Frisbie, a former Lab machinist, died April 11 at Tracy Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center. He was 89.

Frisbie was born on April 7, 1919, in Green Bay, Wis. He was a Tracy resident for 20 years. He worked at the Lab for seven years and served a tour of duty with the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of the Newark Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, an active participant at the Lolly Hansen Senior Center and a parishioner of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, where he took part in bible study for several years.

He enjoyed bowling, barbecuing, swimming, golfing and watching the San Francisco Giants and 49ers and working puzzles and brain teasers. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Virginia, and also spending time with his grandchildren, who called him "Buppa."

Frisbie is survived by his children, Mary Ann Castor and her husband, Joseph, of Fremont; Nancy Fox, and her husband, Steve; and Betsy Moreno, all of Tracy; special cousin, Katherine Plummer of San Francisco; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Frisbie, in 2001; and brothers, Arthur and George Frisbie.

There will be a mass at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 18, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave., Tracy. Interment will follow in Tracy Cemetery, 600 E. Schulte Road, Tracy.
