Robert F. Rhodes

Robert Rhodes, a Tracy resident and Lab retiree, died April 24, at Bethany Nursing Home in Ripon. He was 87.

Born Dec. 20, 1923, in Eureka, Mont., he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years during World War II and then with the U.S. Army for 20 years, including duty in Korea, Japan, the Philippines and Germany, before retiring.

While in Germany, he met and married his wife, Maria Rhodes. The family moved to Tracy in 1965. Rhodes was a warehouse worker in the Lab’s Supply and Distribution Division for 16 years before retiring in 1981.

Rhodes was a member of the American Legion and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Rhodes of Tracy; a son, Karl Rhodes of Tracy; a brother, Jim Rhodes of Billings, Mont.; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; and relatives in Germany.

Funeral services were held in Tracy. Memorial contributions in Rhodes’ name may be sent to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1635 Chester Drive, Tracy, CA 95376.
