Richard Hutchins Dyer Sr.

Richard Hutchins Dyer Sr., a Lab retiree and resident of Danville, died Feb. 11 at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Redwood City, Calif., from complications of a stroke. He was 81.

Born Jan. 11, 1931, in Washington, D.C., Dyer was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired after working 35 years as a risk management lawyer for the University of California at LLNL.

He was a graduate of Yale University and received a law degree from George Washington University.

He was active at the Community Presbyterian Church and with its ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Ida; children, Richard, Suzanne Higa , Sallie and William; grandchildren, Meghan Higa, Ian Higa, Aaron Dyer and Isabelle Dyer; brother, Dr. Robert Dyer; and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Carol (Vieira) Dyer.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at San Ramon Presbyterian Church, 12943 Alcosta Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church. Interment will be private.
