Phillip Paul

Phillip Paul died June 18. He was 69.

Paul earned his doctor of philosophy from Stanford University and spent 10 years at Sandia National Laboratories before becoming a chief engineer in Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s (LLNL) Bio program in 2014, where he was matrixed to Global Security and worked on numerous national security projects. He made significant contributions to laser diagnostics of reacting flow, co-invented electrokinetic pumping, leading to his co-founding of the startup Eksigent Technologies. He was instrumental in LLNL’s research on rapid-turnaround COVID-19 projects.

The memorial will be held at the home of Liz Paul and Jorge Quero in Pleasanton on Jan. 21 from 1-4 p.m. Interested parties may also attend via Zoom.
