Patricia J. Stone

Patricia J. Stone, a Lab retiree, died April 6 in Jackson, Calif. She was 85.

Born March 12, 1927, in Findlay, Ohio, on the family farm, Stone moved with her parents from Ohio to Reno, Nev. where her father coached football at the University of Nevada. The family moved to Livermore, where Stone’s father was based at the Naval Air Station. She was a 1945 graduate of Livermore High School and a Livermore resident for 46 years.

Stone raised her family in Livermore and was a mother and homemaker. From 1969 to 1985, she worked at the Lab as a librarian in the Technical Information Department.

After she and her husband retired, they moved from Livermore to Valley Springs in 1988, where they resided for the last 23 years of her active life. She enjoyed the rural life and traveling with her husband to visit family and friends. She also enjoyed needlepoint, gardening, crossword puzzles and cryptograms.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles B. Schuchardt and Olive L. (Shaw) Schuchardt.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Stone; nine children, Marsha Gillette, Nancy Lai, Laura Cutter, Michael Stone, Richard Stone, Eva Smith, LeAnne Aardahl, Cheryl McClintock and Gregory Stone; brothers Charles Schuchardt and Daniel Schuchardt; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren

Services will be held at 11 a.m., April 20, at Callaghan Mortuary, 3833 East Ave., in Livermore. A reception will follow at the Brookmeadow Park Clubhouse, 450 Charlotte Common, Livermore. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stone's name to a charitable organization of choice.
