Norman Bettencourt

Norman Bettencourt, a Lab retiree and resident of Brentwood, died March 20. He was 80.

Born March 27, 1932, he worked at the Lab for 36 years in transportation.

Bettencourt also was a cattle rancher in the Brentwood area.

He is survived by his children; Julie (Tim) Jacobs, Jeff (Heather) Bettencourt, and his four grandchildren, Haley, Nicole, Cole and Danielle; his brother Howard (Jean) Bettencourt of Livermore; and sisters, Shirlee Peters of Brentwood, and Patricia Lombardi of Mokelumne Hill.

A rosary will be held March 25 at 6 p.m. with a visitation from 5-7 p.m. at the Chapel of Callaghan Mortuary, 3833 East Ave, Livermore. A Mass of the Christian burial will be held Tuesday, March 26 at noon at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 458 Maple St, Livermore, with burial to follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, 3885 East Ave, Livermore.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in his name be made to a local charity of choice.
