Norbert Anthony Zimmerman

Norbert Anthony Zimmerman of Los Banos died Sept. 9. He was 86.

Zimmerman was born July 17, 1927, in Maryville, Mo. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War and eventually retired from the Marines. Zimmerman was a police officer for 20 years working for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He was a parishioner of the Shrine of Our Lady Miracles Church in Gustine, a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Fleet Reserve.

Zimmerman is survived by his wife, Frances Zimmerman of Los Banos; sons, Denzil, Thomas, Mike, Kenneth and Paul Zimmerman; daughter, Theresa Lanza; step sons, Steven, Robert, David and Aloysius "Skip" DeKeyrel; seven brothers and one sister; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor and son, Christopher Zimmerman.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles Church in Gustine. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Shrine of Our Lady Miracles Church in Gustine with interment to follow at 1 p.m. at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella. Services will be conducted by Hillview Funeral Chapel, Gustine.
