Matthew Scott Parker

Matthew Scott Parker died at his home in Manteca, Aug. 8. He was 34.

Born July 21, 1975, in Sacramento, he lived most of his life in Stockton and Manteca.

He graduated from Manteca High School in 1993. He then started working in construction and by the time of his death, he was a state licensed general contractor, electrician and building inspector. He most recently worked as an electrician at the Lab.

Parker was adventurous and enjoyed camping as well as myriad of extreme sports including snowboarding, long boarding, wakeboarding, sky-diving and kite-boarding. His other passion was repairing things, be it a friend’s computer, a neighbor’s sprinkler system or a loved-one’s home.

Parker was the son of John Parker and Brenda Bennion Parker of Manteca.

He is survived by his sisters Wendy Parker of Manteca and Linsey Bair of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brothers Jack of Farmington, Calif., David of Manteca, Tim of Rancho Cucamonga, Ryan of Fort Collins, Colo., Jed of Santa Clara; six nephews; one niece; and many friends and associates.

A religious memorial was held Aug. 13 in Manteca. Donations may be made in Parker’s memory to Habitat for Humanity or Children’s Organ Transplant Association.
