Marvin Jack Gibson

Marvin Jack Gibson, a Lab retiree, died at his home in Livermore April 5, after a short battle with lung cancer He was 77.

Gibson was born on March 27, 1934, to Arthur "Van" Gibson and Ollie Rebecca (Mitchell) Gibson in Skarda, N. M.

After serving eight years in the United States Air Force, he attended the Oregon Institute of Technology where he received a degree in electrical technology. He began his career at the Lab in 1960, retiring in 1996.

He enjoyed nature, hiking, birding, gardening and taking walks at Sycamore Grove. He also was a fan of the Oakland Athletics and loved to spoil his pets.

Gibson is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Livermore; son David Gibson of Santa Cruz; daughter Jennifer Gibson and son-in-law Patrick Lookabaugh of Shasta; his sisters, Mary and Kate of Tres Piedras, N. M.; sisters- and brothers-in-law; as well as many nieces and nephews.

At Gibson’s request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family prefers that donations be forwarded to the Valley Humane Society in Pleasanton and Hospice of the East Bay.
