Marla Lynn Nelson Hallen

Marla Hallen of Livermore died July 31. She was 64.

Hallen was born in Oakland. on Sept. 15, 1948, to Gordon and Arlene Nelson. She spent her life in service of others and was raised to respect the outdoors. She learned to hunt and fish and was an excellent marksman. Hallen loved animals and was known to save many animals in need. She attended Granada High School in Livermore, graduating in 1966. Over the years, Hallen worked many jobs including the Livermore V.A., Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Alameda County Fairgrounds.

Hallen met and married the love of her life Bill Hallen in 1976. They were a team and were inseparable. She was a friend and mentor and always willing to give away what was freely given to her. Hallen enjoyed softball, bowling, gardening, music and casinos.

Hallen is survived by her husband, Bill Hallen; son, James; daughters, Bobbi, Kelly, Judie and Chere; brother, Gary Nelson; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Hallen's life will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements made by Callaghan Mortuary, 3833 East Ave., Livermore, Calif.
