Marjorie Ruth Leider

Marjorie Ruth Leider died March 16. She was 91.

Leider was born on June 20, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois. She attended the University of Arizona and graduated with a degree in chemistry. She went to work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as one of the few women scientists. She retired from LLNL but later worked as a wine chemist at Wente Brothers winery. She was active in Livermore politics, including campaigns to define growth boundaries and protect water availability. She also served on the design review committee and eventually served multiple terms on the Livermore City Council.

She is survived by her daughters Karen Fichman and Amy Leider, grandchildren Alana and Jesse Fichman, son-in-law David Fichman and sister-in-law Elaine Leider.

A small memorial will be held at a later date for family only.
