Marjorie L. Slayter

Marjorie L. Slayter, a Lab retiree and resident of Modesto, died at her home May 24. She was 89.

A native of Torrington, Wyo., she moved to Tracy in 1939 and lived there until 10 years ago, when she moved to Modesto.

She had worked in the quality-control laboratory at the H.J. Heinz Co. factory and also at LLNL.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Pink Ladies at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and traveling in the family motor home. She especially enjoyed being with her family.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 64 years, Lonnie M. Slayter, who died eight days before her; four brothers; and four sisters.

She is survived by her son Bill Slayter and wife Joan, of Modesto; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
