Louis Anthony Biagi

Louis (Lou) Anthony Biagi of Vacaville, a retired Lab staff scientist, died July 20 at Vaca Valley Hospital from complications of congestive heart failure. He was 89.

Born Feb. 11, 1922, to Louis and Angelina Biagi in Crockett, Calif., he graduated from Fremont High School in Oakland. 

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater. A San Franicisco Bay Area native, he worked for 38 years in scientific research at the Lawrence Berkeley and Lawrence Livermore national laboratories, most notably in hydrogen fusion research, retiring as a staff scientist.

He was a world-class chef, a lifetime member of the Cooking Club of America, a lover of music and  someone who could repair almost anything.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Anderson Biagi.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean Boutos Biagi; companion of several years, Menyown Hopkins; sons: Michael, Loren and Randall Biagi; daughter-in-law, Teresa Miller-Biagi; grandchildren: Gianna Annjanette and Christopher Joseph Biagi; and many nieces and nephews.
