Lloyd Gurr Guymon

Lloyd Gurr Guymon, a resident of Livermore, died May 29. He was 86.

Guymon was born on Dec. 3, 1926 in Parowan, Utah to Jess and Golda Guymon. He was raised on a large sheep and cattle ranch.

When Guymon was 18, and before graduating from high school, he was drafted during WWII into the Navy. He served as an aircraft mechanic and was stationed on a naval base in Hawaii. After his discharge from the military, he served an LDS mission for 2 1/2 years in the Navajo Zuni Mission.

After his mission, he attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he met his future wife, Mary Louise Lewis, in a speech class. After they married on May 9, 1951, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, they moved to Parowan, Utah, to work on his family's cattle ranch.

He later went to work for the Titanium Metals in Nevada. His photography skills helped him get a job at LLNL where he worked for 52 years and retired in 2012.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou; his six children, Stephen (Michelle), Craig (preceded him in death), Dorothy Kennedy (Joe), Mary Ann Andersen (Dave), Jesse (Sandy), Angie Kendall (Lee); grandchildren, Kipton, Kristal, Karyn, Kevin, Julie, Andy, Matt, Jeff, Blaine, Evan, Melinda, Aubrey, Cody, Chrissy, Leigh Morgan, Will; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Grace (Milt) Jones, Joyce (Joe) Hamilton; his parents and sister, LaVonna Forester, preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Chase and Michael.

He was a hard worker, enjoyed reading, and was an avid photographer. He enjoyed his service as an LDS bishop in Oakland.

Funeral services were held June 3, in the chapel at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Livermore.
