Leonard Len Silva

Leonard Len Silva, of Livermore, died Oct. 31. He was 63.

Born Aug. 1, 1949, he was raised in Hayward and Livermore. He spent 30 years working at the the Lab and spent his free time working as a general contractor.

On his days off, Silva enjoyed landscaping his land off of Morgan Territory Road or working on his tractor. He received great satisfaction out of remodeling his own home and teaming up with friends on projects to help them do the same.

Aside from work, he enjoyed raising his daughters and spending time with his family.

Later in life, he discovered a new talent in the art of writing poetry. He was successful, had many poems published, and was awarded a first prize through Poetry.com. His poem "Young and Old" was published on page one of "Invoking the Muse." Also during that time, he enjoyed collecting hunting rifles and U.S. currency.

Silva is survived by his two daughters, Jill and Jordan Silva, his former wife, Marti Silva, and his Rottweiler, Arizona.

A memorial is scheduled for Nov. 16 at 12:30 p.m. at the Callaghan Mortuary, 3833 East Ave., Livermore. A celebration of life will be follow at Veterans Memorial Building, 522 South L St. in Livermore.
