Leonard Allen

Leonard Robert Allen died Thursday, June 27. He was 81.

Allen was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He married his high school sweetheart in Reno, Nev., in February 1952. He was an electronics engineer for Lawrence Livermore Labs. He lived in Rail Road Flat for 27 years.

Allen traveled across the U.S. He loved motorcycles and enjoyed riding his two Nortons. He also built custom rifles for 40 years and was a member of the National Rifle Association. An avid hunter, his final trip was in Africa to hunt big game. He was also a World War II airplane buff and rode a P51 Mustang for Father's Day.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores Allen of Rail Road Flat; son, Dr. Curtis (Mary) Allen of Sonora; daughter, Janice Allen of Rail Road Flat; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nadine Brennan.
