Leland H. Wright Sr.

Leland Heiner Wright Sr. died Jan. 17. He was 92.

Born Sep. 24, 1917, in Ogden, Utah to Sanford Bingham and Viola Heiner Wright, he married his high school sweetheart, Margret Paine on Nov. 29, 1940, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Wright was a graduate of Utah State Agricultural College and earned a degree in business. While in college, he served as senior class president.

He and his family lived in Denver until receiving a call to serve in the military. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a personnel specialist. After being discharged, he moved with his family to the San Francisco Bay Area. He worked as a purchasing agent at LLNL.

Wright served as a bishop in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margret; their infant daughter Julie Ann; his sisters Jeness Barker and Florence Hadley; and his brother Dee Wright.

He is survived by his sister Orleen Nielsen of Las Vegas; his son Leland Jr. Wright of Pleasant Grove, Utah; his daughters, Barbara Ward of Portland, Ore., Miriam Anderson of Orem, Utah, and Janae Harker of Edmonton, Canada; 29 grandchildren; and 96 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Chapel at 140 North 400 West, Orem, Utah, with interment at the Orem City Cemetery.
