Jon Lewis Wiser

Jon Lewis Wiser of Benicia, Calif., died Dec. 18. He was 77.

Born Oct. 8, 1935, in Whittier, Calif., his career in the computer industry spanned 40 years. He worked for Bechtel Corp. at LLNL before retiring in 1998.

He was a longtime member of St. Dominic's Church after converting to Catholicism many years ago. He served as a Eucharistic minister and was a devoted member of the church's Adoration Chapel.

He enjoyed watching his godchildren in countless games of soccer, baseball, swimming and Cub Scouts. He was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. He was tech-savvy and always enrolled in classes to keep his skills up to date.

Wiser is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Scott and Bill Wiser; daughters, Michelle Kammen and Donetta Wiser; brother, Peter Glick; grandchildren, Philip and David Wiser and C.J. and Kim Kammen; his godsons, Leo Jr. and Nico Sanchez; many friends; and his cat, Smokey.

He was preceded in death by his son, Doug Wiser in 1999.

Vigil services will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 7 p.m., at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel in Benicia.  A Mass of Christian burial will take place 11 a.m., Jan. 5, at St. Dominic's Church.  Burial will be in St. Dominic's Cemetery at 11 a.m., Jan. 7. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or St. Dominic's Religious Education Program.
