John Walden

John (Jack) Walden, a Livermore resident, died after losing his fight with leukemia May 21. He was 83.

Born Aug 6, 1929 in Steubenville, Ohio to Herbert and Loretta Walden, he graduated from Ohio University with a chemistry degree. He was employed by Battelle, Los Alamos and LLNL for more than 35 years.

After retiring he had an interest in genealogy, outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed following his children's and grandchildren's activities. He also liked to read.

Walden is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Vera; children, Bev, son-in-law Jim, Barbie, and son John, daughter in law Linda; grandchildren, Dan and Jennifer; his sister, Betty Sheets and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, May 28, from noon-1 p.m. Funeral services will be held from 1-2 p.m. at Callahan Mortuary, 3833 East Avenue, Livermore. Burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Walden's name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
