John Markowski

John Markowski, a Lab retiree, died Jan. 29 at his home in Tracy. He was 60.

Born Aug. 24, 1948, to Walter and Julia Markowski in Elizabeth, N.J., he moved to Tracy 17 years ago from Colonia, N.J.

Markowski worked for the Lab for 16 years. He was an operations manager in the Materials Distribution Division and later an associate director facility manager in the Lab Services Directorate. He retired in March 2008.

He loved being on his boat, reading history books, working on wood projects in his shop, yearly tropical vacations with his wife, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of eight years, Beth Markowski of Tracy; son, John Paul Markowski of Elk Grove; stepdaughter, Melissa Lynn Siverling of Tracy; and sister, Mary Lou Yuskanich, and her husband, Michael, of Asbury, N.J.

A mass was held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Tracy on Feb. 5.
